Today was a normal day like most days are, with one exception. The argument. Yes, we argue sometimes. By we, I mean me & he. In any case, it happened. It was full of strong emotions: bitterness, resentment, anger, frustration, disappointment; the types of emotions normally caused by arguing with a loved one. On a good note, it was resolved. Not just bury the hatchet type of resolved but we have a solution and we're both going to make some changes type of resolved.

Not much going on today. I took the car to the dealership for scheduled maintenance and a state inspection. Turns out, the brake lights were out which suddenly illuminated the reason people had been following us too closely lately. They couldn't tell I was braking until they were on me. While there, I listened to this older man regale me with tales of his life. I felt like I knew him by the end of the wait.

Back at home, we relaxed around the house. Jenelle and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and then we came home, had dinner, and watched tv until everyone's respective bed times.

I brought a bag of popcorn kernels awhile back. I use it as a thermometer since we don't have one. Popcorn pops when the temp hits 350 which is the perfect temperature to fry chicken so I thrown in a kernel when the oil is heating up and when it pops I know it's time to fry. Well, Akeem decided he wanted popcorn and since we have kernels, he'd just pop some right on the stove. It was odd to me that I feel he's weird for not waiting for me to get microwaveable popcorn. After all, this is how it was done before microwaves. In any case, the popcorn turned out really well. Perfect snack for the movie it took us 2 days to finish watching.

Jenelle & I worked on this puzzle she received for Christmas. It was nice working with her. She's actually pretty good at finding matching pieces. It brought back memories of my own mother and I assembling puzzles. I'm glad to be able to do the same with my daughter.

Our New Year started off pretty well. This year, like the previous 3 years, we stayed home. Akeem & I figured if we were going to stay at home, we might as well offer to babysit our nieces so his sister could go out. (We'd live vicariously through her LOL) Out of 5 girls, only 3 made it to midnight--Jenelle, Akira, & Tamaya. We also discovered that in our neighborhood, people like to usher in the new year with random gunshots. (Needless to say, this lease will not be renewed)

After sleeping, the girls and I decided we needed to beuaitfy ourselves for the new year so I painted their nails. I have 2 colors of nail polish and everybody had to have a pattern. Pink-orange-pink or orange-pink-orange or pink-pink-orange, etc etc. Gotta love being a mommy of girls or else you'd go nuts!

We finished up the day by heading over to Nana's house for a quick visit. Akeem finally got to deliver his gift to her which was a laptop! She was in disbelief, shock, ecstasy, all in that order. Akeem was happy because he just gave the best.gift.ever.
